New York City!

Here are the promised photos of our NYC trip!
DAY 5
Our first Subway ride! The subway was so confusing, I didn't even try to navigate it- I left that up to Mike. We felt kinda silly hauling our luggage around in the subway. It wasn't the best idea ever but I didn't want to pay for a Taxi to our hotel. After hauling the 40+ lbs bags up and down a few sets of stairs, getting on the wrong Subway and having to go through it all again I was pretty worn out and sore the next day. The day we left we decided to take a taxi and not go through that again. The taxi ride and our driver was another adventure! We may look like tourist but we know when we are being taken advantage of when it comes to Taxi fares. :)
 First stop was China Town
Mike bargaining with a salesman in China Town. Mike says my indecisiveness helps me bargain. I couldn't decide if I wanted a purse but my indecisiveness (about the purse) drove them crazy and they'd keep lowering  the price to talk me into it. Worked pretty well.
We tried out our luck on Canal Street. It was nuts! You'd just be walking by and someone would whisper "Guchi, Prada, Rolex" or other name brand items. We stopped to talk to a few of them-they are very secretive about it and will show you pictures or only bring out one at a time. They go behind a door and bring something out. One guy went and got his wife behind a door, she brought out a baby stroller with Rolex watches hidden in it. These were all still out of our price range but we had fun talking with them.
Went to Grimaldi's Pizzeria for dinner

 Walked across the Brooklyn Bridge

I Love this picture! Our camera has this awesome Super Vivid mode that make the colors amazing!
Watch out! You better stay on the walking side of the sidewalk. The bikers DONT stop or slow down if your on their side.
Waiting for our Water Taxi ride!

 View from the Water Taxi.
 Our complimentary drink-aka Sparkling Cider.
The Water Taxi took us right up to the Statue of Liberty.
Awesome View! We love this picture too!

It got super windy and cold-as you can see everyone else went down below. We were all about the good picture taking up above.

DAY 6
View from the Top of the Rock

 St Patrick's Cathedral

 Walked through Central Park

 New York City Temple
New York City Temple. In the middle of the NYC craziness!

Went to Hard Rock Cafe on Times Square
We were in NYC the day after Bin Laden was killed. There was police everywhere in Times Square.

 WICKED!
It was AWESOME! I would definitely go again! It was well worth it. We loved it!

We did make 4 trips to the pharmacy within 2 days. We both got really bad colds and felt pretty crummy the whole time. It was a bummer to be in NYC and just feel like sleeping all day. We did a little bit of both and still made the most of it!
 M&M World in Times Square

It really is the city that doesn't sleep. It was 1am and still hoppin. We on the other hand were dragging by this time but we did do some late night shopping. Everything  in Times Square stays open till 1am or later.

DAY 7
Breakfast/Lunch at Carnegie Deli (my restaurant review is below)
Mike's Massive Corned Beef sandwich and our ohh so fabulous waitress. Actually it was pretty much the opposite-I have never had such horrible service. Apparently they are famous for their food, not their service. I wasn't a fan of either. The cheesecake however was to die for! If you go to Carnegie Deli be prepared to have the person next to you's elbows on your table and have coffee spilled on you by the waitress reaching over you to get to the other people. If you move the tables apart from each other so you don't feel like you are sitting at your neighbors table she WILL get mad at you and bang the tables back together as she tells you "The tables have to stay together!"

 Yum!

It rained all day the day we left. Between the rain, colds, and feeling dirty after being in the big city we were ready to go home. We had a blast!!!

  1. Amber, that looks like such a fun trip!!! I'm glad you guys were able to go and have a blast!! Your restaurant experience was funny..... I wanted to go to Serendipity's REALLY badly. So we went to the address only to find it had moved...... so we went to THAT address to find it had moved.... and by the time we found it, it was 'Serendipity's III' (that seriously was its name) and by that time i was so ornery about it 'not being the original' i didn't even care anymore. hahaha. Oh, the joys of famous New York restaurants. Anyway, I seriously LOVE your pictures. What an awesome time!!!
