A few weeks ago Mike and I had the chance to go to Washington DC to visit my sister Janelle and Bro-in-law Logan. We had a BLAST hanging out with them and seeing the sights! They are great hosts and it was so fun to see where they live and hang out for a few days. We had too much fun really...
DAY ONE
First ride on the DC Metro...Did I mention you get in trouble for eating down in the Subway? "Opps, sorry officer we didn't know, we'll throw the toast away right now." We must have looked like nice tourists. He didn't give us the $75 fine.
Smithsonian Visitors Center
Air and Space Museum
Wright brothers 1st plane
Mike's Aunt Connie and Uncle Dale work for Jason Chaffetz, they were able to set us up with a Dome Tour of the Capitol. It was one of the highlights of our DC trip. We really went "behind the scenes" to get to the top of the dome. Thanks Connie and Dale!
Just a few of the stairs we took to get up to the top. We did sign a waiver to go on this tour :)
View from the top of the rotunda looking down
It was so neat to see the original paintings up close!
The detail was amazing up close!

We then went above the rotunda and outside to lookout over DC. It was super windy! Talk about good timing (not) our camera battery died when we got to the top. Lame. Cell phone photos just don't cut it.
We also went to the Library of Congress and American History Museum this day. Only got a few cell phone pictures of these :(
DAY TWO
Regular Capitol Tour
View from the bottom looking up to where we were the day before

Mike stopped this officer to take a picture of me and the officer...that was awkward!
Washington Monument
What a handsome Guy!
White House
Right after we were done taking pictures they started kicking everyone off of the sidewalk and made us leave. There were police everywhere. We saw a few helicopters in the sky so we waited around for a while but nothing happened. We were hoping to meet President Obama :)
Arlington Cemetery
Kennedy Graves
We did a tour of the Arlington Cemetery. It was so amazing to hear the stories and history behind everything there. We live in such a great country!
We watched the Changing of the Guard. It was pretty cool! Very humbling to see all the graves.
It was a beautiful place!
DAY THREE
National Harbor
Janelle and Logan!
If it looks like Janelle and Logan are a blast to be with...well they are!
The Awakening
Leave your camera unattended for just a minute and you will get 5 pictures similar to this one! :)
The Awakening
The Peeps store. Anything peep you want.
Mike (and Ike's) store...whoever Ike is??
Went to Georgetown and did a little window shopping.
Went to eat at Ted's Bulletin. They make home made Pop Tarts here. They were delicious!
